Class tests & formal exams

Your assessment. Your rules. Every sitting in one place.

From a class check to an end-of-term exam, set the questions, timing and grading around your school. Keep preparation, the sitting and review connected.

  • Build it step by step. Use the six-step wizard to set details, configure settings, assign classes, choose section types, add questions and prepare schedules.
  • Schedule the way you need. Create multiple sittings for classes, sections or resits. Choose fixed timing or a flexible availability window, with optional lab and seat assignment.
  • Control the attempt. Set duration, attempt limits, navigation and randomisation.
  • Release results deliberately. Review theory answers and choose when students see results.

Formal tests and exams are school and centre tools; personal accounts focus on practice.

Your question bank

More ways to ask. More ways to show understanding.

Build a bank that reflects what you teach. Organise questions once, then bring them into practice sets, class tests and exams.

  • Eight question types. Single and multiple answers, true/false, matching, ordering, blanks, short answers and essays.
  • Find the right question faster. Sort and filter by subject, class, question type and difficulty. Add tags individually or across a batch.
  • Bring your existing work. Import questions from spreadsheets, choose the subject and class, and tag the batch in one go.
  • Keep the picture with the question. Attach images and comprehension passages. Wording such as “diagram above” or “diagram below” sets the image’s position automatically.
  • Start with Academium Curated. Browse available curated questions, choose the ones you need and import them into your class’s bank.

Archive retired questions and restore deleted items. Curated access follows your account’s enabled features and content permissions.

Supervised CBT sittings

The room is ready. Keep the sitting in sight.

Connect the lab’s computers, seats and students before the exam. Follow the sitting from one place and respond when a student needs help.

  • Give every seat a place. Build lab layouts and link registered devices to seats.
  • Approve the right entry. Review seat and login requests, then grant access to the assigned student on the registered computer.
  • Follow live progress. See attempts as they move through the sitting.
  • Grant a break when it is needed. Review student requests or start a permitted break for selected students or the sitting. Approved breaks pause the exam clock.
  • Give extra time deliberately. Grant permitted additional time while keeping the student’s attempt and remaining time in view.

The student’s take screen

Help students stay focused. Every question has its place.

Students can move between objective and theory sections, follow their remaining time and save answers in one familiar workspace. Reading controls and question flags help them move through a sitting with confidence.

  • Give students a clear route. Students can switch grid or list views and see answered, unanswered and unvisited questions at a glance.
  • Save work as students go. Answers autosave, and students can mark uncertain questions for review before returning to them.
  • Let students flag a question problem. Students can report errors in the wording, options or missing information so staff can investigate.
  • Support different reading needs. Students can use read-aloud, larger text, extra spacing, a dyslexia-friendly font and high contrast, alongside keyboard navigation.
  • Keep timing clear. Students see time warnings, can request a break and receive additional time when staff permit it.
  • Make submission deliberate. Students can review answer counts before submitting. The timer submits the attempt when time runs out.

Tools & accessibility

Help students work it out. Keep the tools close.

Students can calculate, consult tables and keep private working beside their question. Staff choose which assessment tools are available, while students can adjust the reading experience to suit their needs.

  • Put number tools within reach. Students can use the calculator and four-figure mathematical tables when enabled for the assessment.
  • Keep working separate. Students can use a private jotter for their working. Its notes stay separate from submitted answers.
  • Meet different reading needs. Students can use read-aloud, larger text, spacing, high contrast and screen-reader announcements.
  • Support more ways to navigate. Students can move between questions and mark them for review with keyboard shortcuts. Assessment settings govern permitted tools.

Access & assessment integrity

The right person. The right device. A record to review.

Keep accounts and supervised assessments organised. Give each role its tools, control lab entry and investigate what happened during the sitting.

  • Keep the sitting in focus. Fullscreen prompts students to return; the desktop app also restricts closing, resizing and minimising.
  • Record what happens. Track tab switches, focus loss, fullscreen changes, restricted shortcuts, right-click and close attempts, refreshes and inactivity.
  • Look beyond the score. Review event counts and timestamps alongside question timing and tool usage.
  • Give staff the evidence. Integrity reports bring attempt and seat events together for investigation.

Account permissions control access. Integrity events are signals for review, not automatic proof of misconduct.

Bring objective marks, theory review and class performance together. See what happened and what needs attention before results move on.

  • Finish the marking. Work through the manual grading queue for theory answers.
  • Resolve repeat attempts. Choose the right result for the class mark sheet.
  • See the class and the individual. Review subject results, question difficulty and student trends.

Past questions & practice

One more attempt. A little more understanding.

Make revision feel like progress. Build a set around the work that matters, learn from the feedback and give the tricky questions another look.

  • Choose your starting point. Use certification past questions, your school’s bank, or a mix. Filter subjects, exam types, classes and difficulty.
  • Set the rhythm. Choose questions per attempt, duration, feedback and retake limits. Enable calculators, maths tables, a jotter and XP where available.
  • Keep each attempt fresh. Each attempt draws a fresh sample from the pool. Retakes are available when the set allows them.
  • Let a wrong answer teach something. Read enabled explanations, use Review Mode to pause between answers, and revisit missed questions without changing the saved score.
  • Take a breather. Keep your place. Save progress and pause the timer for a break, then resume. Reading and accessibility tools help students work comfortably.
  • See what changed. Review scores, correct and missed answers, time, XP and subject breakdowns. Use the next attempt to put that feedback to work.

Real revision. A little adrenaline.

Turn a few spare minutes into a question run worth coming back for. Chase a streak, spend a perk at the right moment and see how far the next round takes you.

  • Four ways to play. Blitz, Survival, Time Attack and untimed Sprint.
  • Keep the questions relevant. Multiple-choice and true/false questions from the practice pool. Customise by subject or exam type.
  • Make the streak count. Consecutive correct answers increase the score multiplier. Every seventh question is a triple-point boss.
  • Earn a little help. Bank perks as correct answers build up: Fifty-Fifty, Skip, Freeze and Second Chance. Availability follows the mode’s rules.

Parents & personal progress

Stay involved. Give each child their own space.

Know what each child has been working on, where they’re improving and where a little support could count. Turn that insight into focused practice, shared goals and a space of their own.

  • Keep children together. Manage separate profiles within your plan’s allowance.
  • See how their time is spent. Track daily app time, time by feature and a dated feed of practice, drills and typing lessons. Manage tracking for each child.
  • Look beyond one score. Review attempts, subject trends, typing speed and accuracy, drill results and XP history. Export reports in PDF or Excel.
  • Make the next step count. Create targeted practice, assign it to chosen children and set goals for them to accept. Follow their progress as they work.
  • Set controls for each child. Override shared preferences for circles, reward purchases, activity monitoring and practice tools.
  • Give them their own space. Choose Master PIN, Child PIN or Pinless switching on Individual Desktop. Manage device login codes, linked devices and access.

Your computer lab

The room you know. Every computer in its place.

Turn the physical lab into a clear visual map. Arrange seats, match them to registered computers and see which workstations need attention before the next sitting.

  • Map the room. Set rows, columns, aisles and front/back markers. Move seats to match the physical layout.
  • Let Auto Arrange guide the setup. Start from the reference computer, then confirm each registered computer in seat order through Location Mode. Locate pairs it with the next seat; Skip leaves that seat unassigned.
  • Find the right machine. Use Locate to signal a selected computer and highlight its seat on the lab map.
  • Keep faults visible. Record monitor, mouse, keyboard or CPU faults. A component marked Bad automatically puts the seat in maintenance, keeping it out of seat assignment.
  • Keep track of the computers. See computers online, offline or in use, and review registered devices, active/inactive status and last-seen records.

Their assigned seat. Ready for their sitting.

Reserve the right lab computer for the right student as the sitting approaches. Keep entry, the seat and the attempt connected.

  • Reserve before the exam. Upcoming sittings trigger seat warnings and restrict other students’ logins.
  • Protect the assigned place. Unassigned occupants are logged out as the seat enters lockdown.
  • Confirm the machine. Registered-device checks and attempt binding help detect the wrong computer.
  • Let staff resolve exceptions. Review login requests and reassign seats with a recorded reason when needed.

At school & in your own time

School assessments. Home practice.

Run school tests and exams on your local network. With Off-school enabled, students can keep practising at home in Individual Edition, connected to Academium Cloud.

  • Run CBT on the school network. Client Edition connects student and employee computers to the local school server for tests and exams.
  • Keep practice going at home. Off-school gives students question practice, typing lessons, rewards and progress through Individual Edition.
  • Keep the school in control. Staff issue login codes, manage each student’s registered device and can revoke or restore Off-school access.
  • Individual accounts, too. Individual students, parents and independent instructors also connect through Individual Edition with their own accounts.

Off-school requires an active school licence and enabled access. School tests and exams run on the local network; Academium Cloud supports home practice and syncing.

Your data. Your recovery. Your school server.

Keep the questions. Keep the work. Have a way back.

Your question bank, assessment records and uploaded files deserve a recovery plan. Surepass Server puts backups and machine health within the school’s reach.

  • Back up the whole picture. Keep the database and uploaded files, including question images, together in an encrypted backup.
  • Give recovery a routine. Choose daily, weekly or monthly backups, a storage location and how many copies to retain.
  • Bring your school’s work back. Restore a Surepass backup using the same school portal identity, including on a replacement server. Product checks keep SMS backups out of Surepass.
  • See how the machine is doing. Check storage, drive health, available temperature readings and resource usage before small problems grow.

More from your school server

The assessments are just part of the job.

The same Surepass Server can help connect the lab, keep configured devices on a shared clock and assign local addresses when your network needs it.

  • Find the school server. Client Edition discovers Surepass on the local network, helping lab computers find their connection.
  • Keep time together. An optional NTP service gives configured school devices a shared time source.
  • Give the lab its addresses. Optional DHCP assigns and manages local address leases for networks that need it, including routerless labs.
  • Work alongside SMS. When both servers run on the same machine, they coordinate the enabled time and address services and hand them over when needed.

Network services are optional and configured for the school’s network. School tests and exams still run locally.
