School branches

One school, every branch.

Each branch keeps its own students, staff, sessions and money, and the people who run the school move between them.

A fictional school with three branches.

Branches

Separate records, one school.

Everything in SMS belongs to a branch. The school owner adds a branch from the app’s menu, and the owner, accountants and school admins can switch between branches.

  • Settings per branch. A branch has its own name, contacts, logos, currency and accent colour.

A fictional branch with its own records and settings.

Switching

Always know which branch you are in.

The current branch is named in the title bar, so nobody reads one campus’s dashboard as the whole school’s. Pick another branch from it and confirm, and SMS opens that branch’s dashboard.

  • Confirmed, not on a slip. Choosing a branch asks for a second click, because switching closes whatever you had open.

  • Only where it applies. The switcher is hidden for anyone who works in one branch or may not switch.

Branch details

Names that tell branches apart.

Edit a branch’s name, school name, email, phone number, city and state. Two branches cannot share a name, because the name is how they are told apart everywhere else.

Closing a branch

Closing a branch, said plainly.

Closing a branch removes it with its students, staff and history. SMS shows what it holds and asks you to type its name first. There is no undo.

  • Two branches it will not close. The only branch, and the one you are working in. Switch to another branch first.

  • Owner only. Only the school owner and superadmin can close a branch.
