Extracurricular activities

Clubs, teams and houses, properly run.

Run each activity with its own participants, register and termly performance, and keep your houses organised.

A fictional club register: everyone starts present, then the exceptions are marked.

Activities

Each club with its coordinator.

Set up the session’s clubs, teams and societies, each with a category, a coordinator, a description, the day and time it meets, a venue and, if you want one, a maximum number of participants.

  • Your own categories. File activities under categories such as Sports, Arts or Academic clubs. Each category shows how many activities it holds.

Fictional activities with their coordinators.

Participants

Sign students up class by class.

Pick a class and section, tick the students, and add them to the activity. Students already on it are shown as members rather than offered again, and the count shows how close the activity is to its limit.

Fictional students added to a club with a limit of 20.

Registers

Who turned up to practice.

Take a register for an activity on a date: present, absent, late or excused. Open a date again and what was marked is already filled in.

  • Separate from class attendance. Club registers do not affect a student’s school attendance.

Fictional termly performance records.

Performance

How each participant is doing, every term.

Assess each participant once a term: their participation and attitude, each rated excellent, good, fair or poor, an overall grade, their achievements, areas for improvement and remarks.

A fictional termly assessment.

Houses

Colours, mottos and house masters.

Give each house a colour, a motto, a description and a house master, then assign students to houses for the session.

  • A whole class at once. Load a class, give each student a house, and save together. Students already in a house arrive with it selected.

  • House sponsors. Record who backs each house in a session: the sponsor, the kind of sponsorship, contact details and what they provide.

Example houses with their mottos and student numbers.

Reports

By activity, by student or by house.
