Attendance

Every register. Every school day. Accounted for.

Mark the whole class at once, then change the few who were absent or late. Your calendar, reports and report cards follow what was recorded.

An example register with fictional students: everyone set to present, one absence and one late arrival noted, then saved and locked.

Taking the register

Mark the group. Adjust the individual.

Most days, almost everyone is present. The register is built for that.

  • Set everyone at once. Choose one status for the whole class, then change the students who were absent or late.

  • Unconfirmed is never mistaken for present. Rows start as Present but count as unmarked until someone decides. The save button shows how many are left.

  • A note where it matters. Add a remark beside any student, such as the reason for an absence.

  • Saved registers open locked. Return to a day that was already taken and it opens read-only. Choose Edit to change it, so nothing is replaced by accident.

The save button changes with the register: amber while rows are still assumed present, blue when every row is decided, green when changing a saved day.

Your school calendar

Registers open on the days your school does.

SMS checks the date before a register loads.

  • Your weekends, your setting. Choose which days your school is closed each week, including schools that open on Saturdays.

  • Holidays come from your calendar. Holidays in your events calendar close the register for those dates. Public holidays are added when the app syncs.

  • Within the term, up to today. Dates outside the current term, and dates that have not happened yet, cannot be marked.

  • Missed days stand out. The date picker marks the days a class already has a register, so a gap is easy to spot.

Weekends follow your setting and holidays come from your events calendar, with public holidays added when the app syncs. Days with a register are marked, so a missed school day stands out.

Students, staff and exams

One way of working. Three registers.

Each register asks only for what it needs.

  • Students. Choose a class, section and date.

  • Staff. Choose a role and date, or take every role in one register.

  • Exam papers. Choose the exam, class, section and subject. The current term’s exam is selected for you.

  • Access for each register. Roles are given permission to view or mark each register separately.

Students by class and section, staff by role or all roles together, and exam papers by subject. Half day on student registers depends on your school’s attendance setting.

Before the day gets away

See which classes have not been marked.

Missing registers surface on their own, and only on days school is open.

  • Catch Up from 11am. On a school day, Catch Up shows how many classes still have no register, with a link to take attendance.

  • Quiet when school is closed. Nothing is flagged on weekends, holidays or outside term dates.

  • The week on your dashboard. The compliance panel lists each class and class teacher with a mark for every school day this week.

  • Follow up with the right teacher. Consecutive unmarked days are counted, and teachers with missed registers are listed together. Teachers see their own classes.

Reports and report cards

The counting is already done.

Totals come from saved registers, measured against the days school was open.

  • A whole term at a glance. Every student against every day of the term, with weekends and holidays shown and a percentage for each student.

  • Late still counts as attended. Late and half days count towards attendance in every report. Absent does not.

  • Students who need attention. The term report counts students below 75%.

  • On the report card. Turn on the attendance panel in your report card template to show days present out of days open.

  • Print or export. Print a summary, or export the day-by-day grid to Excel. Daily, session, staff and exam reports sit alongside it.

The term report measures each student against the days school was open, flags students below 75% and feeds the attendance panel on report cards. Students are fictional.

Registers taken on paper

Kept a paper register? Bring it in.

Download a template with the names already listed, fill in the codes and upload it.

  • Names already in place. Student, staff and exam templates include the current list, so you only add statuses.

  • Problems reported by name. Rows with an unknown student or an unrecognised status are listed with the student’s name. Valid marks are saved.

Templates arrive with the current names and IDs. Unrecognised statuses and unknown students are listed by name; everything else is saved.
