Mark who an event is for: everybody, staff, parents, or chosen classes, sections, members of staff or parents.

-   **Your event types.** Name your own event types, each with an icon.

## Dates, a picture and the details.

An event has a title, a type, a start and end date, an optional picture and remarks. The list shows each event’s audience, dates and who created it, and an end date before the start is refused.

-   **Switch one off.** Turn an event off without deleting it, and back on when it is confirmed.

## What is coming up, on everyone’s dashboard.

The dashboard’s event calendar lists upcoming events and holidays, or shows them on a month grid. Each person chooses which view it opens on.

Holidays

## Holidays the whole system respects.

A holiday is always for everybody, and attendance cannot be marked on it.

-   **Public holidays added for you.** Public holidays arrive when the app syncs. They are locked locally, since edits would be replaced on the next sync.
    
-   **Always current.** The app checks daily whether the public holiday calendar has changed and only downloads it when it has. The page shows when holidays were last updated.
    
-   **A reminder the day before.** With scheduled jobs running, staff get a notification the school day before a holiday, and on Friday for holidays from Saturday to Monday.

### Do we still add our own holidays?

Yes. Add school-specific closures, such as mid-term breaks, as holiday events. Public holidays arrive through sync.

### Can we edit a synced public holiday?

No. Synced holidays are locked, because any local change would be replaced on the next sync.
