The award

## What was given, and why.

Each award records the recipient, the award name, the gift given, an optional cash prize, the date and the reason. The gift, date and reason are required, so every award on file says what was given and why.

-   **Cash prizes are a record, not a payment.** A cash prize is noted on the award. It is not added to payroll.

Who can be recognised

## Teachers, staff and students alike.

Choose a role, then the person. Staff are listed by name and staff ID from your branch’s active accounts in that role. For a student, choose their class and pick from the students enrolled in it this session.

-   **Any staff role.** Teachers, accountants, receptionists and your school’s own roles can all receive awards.

On record

## Every award in one list.

The list shows every award with the recipient and their class or staff ID, their role, the gift, the cash prize, the reason and the date.

-   **Edit when details change.** Open any award to correct or complete it.
    
-   **Separate permissions.** Viewing, adding, editing and deleting awards can each be given to different roles.

### Can students receive awards too?

Yes. Pick the student role, choose a class, then the student.

### Do we have to give a cash prize?

No. A gift item is required, such as a trophy or certificate, but the cash prize is optional.

### Is this a staff appraisal system?

No. It records awards and recognition. SMS does not have appraisal forms, scores or review cycles.
