## Cookies and similar storage

Cookies are small values a website can store in a browser. Local storage and session storage are related browser features: local storage can remain after a tab is closed, while session storage generally belongs to the current tab session.

This policy covers the public Academium website. Signing in to a separate school application, portal or external provider involves that service’s own session and privacy arrangements.

The academium-consent local-storage entry remembers the categories you allow and when you chose them. The website asks again after 180 days, or if the consent version changes. This preference is needed to honour your choices.

### Light or dark mode

The academium-mode local-storage entry remembers the theme you select. It stays until changed or cleared. If storage is unavailable, the site can still display using its default or your device’s theme.

## Optional analytics

With Analytics enabled, the site loads Sabilytics to help us understand visits and website performance. Its script uses browser storage for visitor and session identifiers and referral information. It can report the visited page and query string, referring page, browser information and performance measurements.

The script uses sb\_ prefixed storage entries. Its current session identifier renews after 30 minutes of inactivity; this is different from the lifetime of stored values or analytics records. Persistent identifiers remain in browser storage until cleared or replaced. Do not put sensitive personal information in page URLs.

Rejecting Analytics prevents this website from loading the analytics script. Turning it off later clears its stored identifiers and reloads the page to stop an already-running script.

## Optional support chat

With Support chat enabled, the site loads its chat widget from support.academium.com.ng. The widget uses local storage to remember its visitor token and may use session storage for connection state. Messages and any contact details or files you submit become part of your support conversation.

Turning this category off removes the stored widget token and reloads the page to stop an already-running widget. Clearing a browser token does not delete a conversation held by the support service. Email, phone and WhatsApp contact options remain available on our Contact page.

## Change or clear your choice

-   Select Cookie preferences in the footer to review the two optional categories and save a new choice.
-   Use your browser’s site-data settings to remove local storage or cookies. Removing the consent preference makes the banner appear again.
-   Browser privacy tools can block scripts or storage, but clearing an identifier alone is not a lasting opt-out. Use the website’s category controls to prevent a service from loading.
-   If the browser cannot save preferences, your choice applies to the current page session and the site may ask again on a later visit.
